Holmes and Watson have arrived in the north of England to investigate the disappearance of two people from Dr. Thorneycroft Huxtable's priory school. Their first stop is Holdernesse Hall, where they meet with the Duke whose son has disappeared. They then make their way to the school and the moor around it to try and learn more about what may have happened to the boy and the German teacher who disappeared the same day.
