We find comfort in music and often use it to express our emotions. Whether in joy or sadness, music has been our constant companion. Choral music...is energetic and uplifting. In 3500 bc...The Mesopotamians create the first notes of music and by the 9th century churches began offering prayers through songs. Today, especially during the holidays, you can find choral performances at churches, schools, malls, and even carolers.

As the power of our phones increased with processing chips, internet connectivity, and touchscreens, so did the apps that became available. Apps continue changing how we work, live, and play. They offer opportunities, too, by creating thousands of new companies, millions of new jobs, and billions of dollars in revenue. In 2008 there were only 500 apps...today there are over 3 million and counting. Ever wondered how apps are made? Spend some time exploring the basics of app development. Plenty of online resources and courses can introduce you to the world of coding.

The first Nobel Prizes were awarded on December 10, 1901, which was the fifth anniversary of the death of Alfred Nobel. Nobel was a Swedish scientist, inventor and businessman. He is particularly notable as the inventor of dynamite and other high explosives, and held more than 350 patents in his lifetime. When Alfred Nobel wrote his will in 1895, it established that prizes would be awarded each year to commemorate and honor those who made significant achievements in the areas of science, medicine, literature and peace. While no official reason has been given for why he created these awards most experts agree the main reason was one of his brothers died in a tragic explosion while working on stabilizing nitroglygerin. Nobel Prize medals for Physics, Chemistry, Medicine, and Literature are minted in Stockholm, while the Peace Prize medal is minted in Oslo.

News; game: finish this holiday song; Hallmark movie drinking game; goodbye/fun facts....Christmas Card Day. Today, annual Christmas cards have become a time-honored tradition. It all started when Sir Henry Cole, a member of the British civil service, created the modern concept of the Christmas card along with his artist friend, John Horsley, in 1843, as a means to encourage more people to use the new British postal system. Their first card was sold for one shilling or about 24 U.S. cents. By the 1860s, the practice of sending Christmas cards was more or less in full swing in Britain thanks to the rise and advent of the printing press. No matter how often you actually talk to your distant relatives, chances are you'll get a Christmas card from them! Christmas cards are a great way to catch up on the year's highlights if you haven't had time to get in on all the details throughout the year.

(Ashley's friend's story); goodbye/fun facts....national brownie day...there is so much emphasis on holiday cookies...but today is all about the brownie! Legend has it that the creation of brownies hales from the Palmer House Hotel in 1893. Bertha Palmer, a prominent Chicago socialite whose husband owed the hotel, asked a pastry chef for a dessert suitable for ladies attending the Chicago World's Columbian Exposition. She requested a cake-like delicacy small enough to be included in boxed lunches. Then in 1896 The Boston Cooking School Cookbook publishes the first recipe for brownies as they are known today....and who doen't love a brownie! 36% of us love those corners...ME!
