Episode 93 - Susan McGoldrick, Alison Turnball and Tanya Turnbull

    20/02/2026 | 22 mins.
In January 2012 47 year old Susan McGoldrick, her sister 44 year old Alison Turnball, and her niece (Alison’s daughter) 24 year old Tanya Turnball were shot and killed by Michael Atherton, Susan’s partner.

An abusive and violent man who had been arrested for violent incidents towards Susan before, Atherton was able to legally own the guns which he used to kill the three women. A review into the murders criticised the firearms licensing process and missed opportunities to understand the risk that Susan and her family faced.

This is the story of Susan McGoldrick, Alison Turnbull and Tanya Turnbull.

Episode 92 - Kim, Kayleigh and Kimberley Buckley

    13/02/2026 | 23 mins.
In September 2012, 46 year old Kim Buckley, her 17 year old daughter Kayleigh Buckley and 6 month old granddaughter Kimberley Buckley all died in a house fire in Cwmbran, in Wales.

The fire had been deliberately started by Kayleigh’s controlling and abusive boyfriend – and father of Kimberley - Carl Mills who was later jailed for over 30 years for their murders. Mills groomed Kayleigh when she was just 15 years old and three statutory reports identified multiple failings in the police and social services response to the danger Mills posed. A heartbreaking story of the murder of three generations of a family and the failure of services to protect them.

This is the story of Kim, Kayleigh and Kimberley Buckley.

Episode 91 - The Edwards Family

    06/02/2026 | 30 mins.
On 5 July 2018 13 year old Jennifer Edwards and her 15 year old brother Jack Edwards were shot and killed in Sydney in Australia by their father John who then took his own life.

A man with a long and documented history of abuse of his partners and children, Edwards' final act of abuse was when his estranged wife - and mother of Jennifer and Jack - Olga took her own life in December 2018.

A review found that the deaths of Jennifer and Jack - and therefore Olga - could have been prevented and made recommendations for improvements in the police and other agency's response to domestic abuse and coercive control.

This is the story of the Edwards Family.
