From tips with the prof...
On this week’s episode Equiteam’s Liz Daniels welcomes International Endurance rider, Iain Paterson to the show. Having represented Scotland seven times, won a 100 mile endurance ride through the Cairngorms after finishing the race in 21 hours, and spent four days in South Africa to complete the 350km ‘Race the Wild Coast’ on horses he didn’t previously know, his Mum’s decision to take him on a pleasure ride as a young boy after seeing he was losing interest in Pony Club certainly seemed to be a good life-shaping decision! Filled with passion and enthusiasm for both the welfare of his horses and the sport, Iain shares an insight into endurance riding, and his family's involvement in the sport and building the Tannasg Arabians Stud. When Changing Your Goals Leaves You Disappointed
Equiteam’s Liz Daniels and Louise Gillings chat about how moving the goal posts and changing your expectations at the last minute can often lead to disappointment and means that you forget to enjoy the moment. After an interesting few weeks as a coach, rider, friend and general observer, Liz asks Lou if she thinks our natural competitive streak can actually hinder our enjoyment levels, and why – once we get to an event – do we go from being proud just to qualify, to moving the goal posts and then disappointed that we didn’t win?! We would love to hear your own thoughts, experiences and conclusions on this topic!

If You Have a Dream, Follow It
On this week’s podcast EquiTeam’s Liz Daniels welcomes Paralympic Bronze Medallist Mari Durward-Akhurst to the show. Born with Cerebral Palsy, Mari used riding as a form of physiotherapy and it wasn’t long before her love of horses was cemented. Mari shares her journey with the Riding for the Disabled Association and para-dressage, which led her to be selected for the Paris Paralympics. Full of ups and downs, Mari recalls the highs and lows and how she felt when she won a Bronze medal at Paris. With Mari’s advice, “Take every opportunity you are given and appreciate that it might take a long time. If you have a dream and the right team around you then anything is possible”, this is an incredibly inspiring podcast full of what you can do, rather than what you can’t.

My Goal is to Make People Cry… (with joy!)
On this week’s podcast EquiTeam’s Liz Daniels has the pleasure of being joined by Tony Hobden from Equidance. After meeting Mrs Equidance (Kelly Jewel), music producer Tony was taken to watch dressage to music for the first time and came away with one clear aim – to make the freestyle music better – and that is just what they did! Founding the business 10 years ago, Tony shares how he approached top riders, offering to produce their music to get the Equidance brand known, and shares how during lockdown he tried to break the barriers to make dressage to music feel accessible for all levels. With an all time high of watching Becky Moody dance to his music production at the Paris Olympics, Tony shares why he loves his job, the sport and of course his biggest inspiration.
