    30/09/2026 | 1h 16 mins.
On today’s episode of CINEMATIC SOUND RADIO, we continue our celebration of the 60th anniversary of STAR TREK by listening to some of the best music from the franchise, which first aired on network TV on September 6, 1966. During this special two-part series, you’ll hear over two hours of music from the various STAR TREK films, TV series, and video games.

In part two, we’ll once again pay tribute to Jerry Goldsmith by playing selections from his last STAR TREK score, STAR TREK: NEMESIS.

Our video game selection will be STAR TREK THE GAME from 2013, with original score composed and adapted by Chad Seiter.

We’ll feature two cues from Stephen Barton and Frederik Wiedmann’s score to the spectacular third season of STAR TREK: PICARD

We’ll end the show with four re-recordings of classic TREK music, including selections from STAR TREK: TOS, STAR TREK: THE MOTION PICTURE, STAR TREK 6: THE UNDISCOVERED COUNTRY, and STAR TREK: GENERATIONS.

The Essential Soundtracks - Star Trek: Insurrection

    22/09/2026 | 2h 8 mins.
Today on THE ESSENTIAL SOUNDTRACKS, Erik Woods, Robert Daniels, and Randy Andrews continue their journey through the STAR TREK films and their soundtracks as they discuss the ninth movie in the series, STAR TREK: INSURRECTION.

STAR TREK: INSURRECTION is the third STAR TREK film to star the cast of STAR TREK: THE NEXT GENERATION, with guest stars F. Murray Abraham, Donna Murphy, and Anthony Zerbe. In the film, the crew of the USS Enterprise-E rebels against Starfleet command after they discover a conspiracy with a species known as the Son'a to steal the peaceful Ba'ku's planet for its rejuvenating properties.

In this episode of THE ESSENTIAL SOUNDTRACKS, Randy Andrews, Rob Daniels and Erik Woods revisit Jerry Goldsmith's exciting and emotionally charged score to STAR TREK: INSURRECTION.

The hosts first discuss the film's reputation, its moral conflict surrounding the relocation of the Baku, Picard's evolving relationship with Starfleet, the romance between Picard and Anij, the performances of the cast, the film's humour, visual effects, cinematography and Jonathan Frakes' direction.

The second half of the episode dives deeply into Jerry Goldsmith's score, including discussions on Goldsmith's use of melody, electronics, solo instruments, orchestration, 90s action writing, and his brilliant underscoring of dialogue.

The original soundtrack album was released at the time of the film's release in December 1998 by GNP Crescendo Records, featuring just under 45 minutes of musical highlights.

In 2013, GNP Crescendo Records re-released the soundtrack for the film as an expanded collector's edition, featuring previously unreleased tracks plus four bonus tracks newly remastered by Bruce Botnick with liner notes by Jeff Bond and John Takis.

    Enjoy the show!

Talking Soundtracks: Interview With Steven Price

    10/09/2026 | 1h 9 mins.
Academy Award, BAFTA and Emmy-winning composer Steven Price has scored the highly anticipated live-action/animated film COYOTE VS. ACME, directed by Dave Green and starring Will Forte, John Cena, and Lana Condor.

Warner Bros. Discovery initially shelved COYOTE VS. ACME in November 2023 to obtain a tax write-off but later reversed its decision and allowed the filmmakers to seek other distributors following public backlash. After several unsuccessful negotiations with various distributors, Ketchup Entertainment acquired the rights for $50 million in March 2025 and finally released the film on August 28, 2026, in the US and August 21, 2026, in the UK to rave reviews from the critics and cinemagoers alike.

After enduring years of catastrophic product failures at the hands of ACME, Inc, a tenacious, unemployed coyote (Wile E. Coyote) uncovers a corporate cover-up and spearheads an unhinged battle against the multinational conglomerate that’s been blowing him up in the name of profit. Teaming up with billboard accident lawyer Kevin Avery (Will Forte), he takes on slick corporate counsel Buddy Crane (John Cena) and ACME, Inc., the profit-obsessed conglomerate behind every one of the Coyote’s chaotic catastrophes.

In August 2026, for TALKING SOUNDTRACKS on the CINEMATIC SOUND RADIO PODCAST, Jason Drury had the pleasure of talking to Steven Price about his score for COYOTE VS. ACME via Zoom at his studio in Surrey, England.

As well as talking about the score, they also talked about Steven’s career to date, including his work on THE LORD OF THE RINGS and his Academy Award-winning score for GRAVITY.

And you will also be hearing plenty of the music of Stephen Price, including, of course, from his latest release, COYOTE VS. ACME.

    Enjoy!
