26th September 2025 - Discussing UK ID Cards on LBC
Fevzi Turkalp, the Gadget Detective, joins Clive Bull on LBC to discuss the announcement by the UK government of the introduction of a compulsory smartphone based digital ID, which could be required when working, renting a property, and a lot more. What information will the ID store, what form will it take, who would have access, and do we want so much information about us centrally stored with the ever present danger of the database being hacked, and is it an unwarranted intrusion on our privacy and security?
Questions raised include
- What happens if you lose your smartphone that contains the ID app?
- What if you don't own or want a smartphone?
- What if future governments have more authoritarian intentions?
- What if you're homeless?
- Is this a creeping Big Brother?
- Are there other motives to these IDs?
- Can we minimise the data we currently share?

26th September 2025 - Discussing ID Cards on BBC Radio Scotland
Fevzi Turkalp, the Gadget Detective, joins Stephen Jardine to discuss the plans by the UK government to introduce ID Cards. What information will these cards contain, and what concerns does having to carry such a card raise? With personal privacy and the potential of data breaches, should we be agreeing to having so much of our personal data stored centrally and accessible this way?

19th September 2025 - Discussing the US/UK Tech Agreement on LBC
Fevzi Turkalp, the Gadget Detective, joins Clive Bull on LBC to discuss the new tech agreement between the UK and United States. The UK/US Tech Prosperity Deal covers up to ten years and encompasses AI, Quantum computing, Nuclear and Fusion technology, and Space defence. With a highly transactional US administration what is in it for the UK, is it wise to be building up to 12 nuclear reactors to power some of this technology, and could it all harm relations with our other trading partners?
Plus a scam warning; Be on the lookout for emails claiming to be from the government asking if you received the recent emergency alert test to your mobile device, because the emails are fake and can install malware on your device.
