    19/1/2026 | 1h 9 mins.
This week on Not Your Granny’s Quilt Show, I’m delighted to welcome Kishanna Bousselaire of Black Girl Magic Quilting, a maker whose work is bursting with color, pattern, and playful creativity.

Kishanna loves working with bright fabrics and bold prints, creating quilts that feel joyful and intentional. She’s also the sample quilt maker for Sewlarium in Portland, Oregon, where her attention to detail and thoughtful fabric choices really shine. A self-proclaimed super fan of Ruby Star Society fabrics and designers, Kishanna enjoys finding fresh, creative ways to showcase their prints in her work.

Sustainability is an important part of Kishanna’s quilting practice. She’s always thinking about how to use every last bit of fabric, from playful scrap projects to her current favorite, fussy cutting adorable motifs and turning scraps into Christmas ornaments. 🎄

Kishanna is also growing her presence on YouTube, where she shares sewing tutorials, reviews, and behind-the-scenes looks at her process. Be sure to check out her beautiful work on social media and give her YouTube channel a like and subscribe. Enjoy this colorful and inspiring conversation with Kishanna Bousselaire!

Meet Amy Lollis of Amy Lollis Creative! - Ep. 186

    12/1/2026 | 1h 39 mins.
This week on Not Your Granny’s Quilt Show, I’m joined by Amy Lollis of Amy Lollis Creative, a designer, educator, and business mentor who has thoughtfully reimagined what a sustainable quilting career can look like.

Amy began her journey writing quilt patterns and taking on commission work, then expanded into teaching and coaching as her business grew. Over time, she realized she needed a way to continue supporting quilters without burning out. That realization sparked a major shift in how she shows up in the quilt world.

In our conversation, Amy shares how she transitioned her in-person offerings into on-demand courses and workbooks, allowing her work to reach more people while creating space for rest and balance. We talk about Scrap Academy, her course for creating beautiful scrap quilts, Build Your SquareSpace Site, and her SEO workbook designed to help makers fine-tune their online presence.

Amy is deeply passionate about helping quilters build businesses that are successful, sustainable, and low-maintenance. As she’s redefined her professional goals, she’s also been tending to her inner life and is preparing to pursue a PhD in counseling, bringing care and intention into every part of her work.

Meet Matt Wilding! - Ep. 185

    05/1/2026 | 1h 29 mins.
This week on Not Your Granny's Quilt Show, we welcome in the New Year with Matt Wilding! Matt is a quilt pattern designer and all around creative guy. While being sculpture studies major at university, Matt found a connection to sourdough bread and sculpture that helped him finish his studies. The sourdough saga continued for him when he started baking for neighbors and friends during the lockdowns in 2020. While healing from a serious back injury, Matt had to find a new path that didn't have quite the same physical demand as baking. Matt turned to sewing, and produced an incredible peice called "Wings of Pride". Matt's wings won in the Quilt Creations category at Festival of Quilts in Birmingham, UK. The magnificent wingspan features precision piecing and details that stop people in their tracks. Matt has since designed and produced the pattern for a fun 3D bag pattern called Tessellated Heart. The pattern is now available on his website and you can find so many fun hacks to the pattern on his instagram! Matt will be teaching a workshop for his through Crafty Monkies, so check that out! Please enjoy Matt Wilding.

Meet Bianca Springer | Thanks I Made Them! - Ep. 183

    22/12/2025 | 1h 50 mins.
This week on Not Your Granny’s Quilt Show, I’m thrilled to welcome Bianca Springer, the creative force behind Thanks I Made Them. Sew Can You. (@thanksimadethem). Bianca has an incredible eye for transforming second-hand clothing and quilts into bold, unforgettable garments that celebrate creativity, sustainability, and skill.
She’s especially known for her striking dresses made from yoyos and discarded quilt tops, breathing new life into materials with history and heart. While Bianca is deeply passionate about upcycling, she’s equally committed to teaching sewing skills so others can make, mend, and care for their own clothes with confidence.
Bianca has taught workshops across the community and has even more planned in the year ahead. She’ll be teaching at QuiltCon 2026, where she’ll also have a quilt hanging in the show, and in July 2026 she’ll be leading workshops at the Estelle Center for Creative Arts.
For nearly five years, Bianca wrote and drafted bag patterns for Sew News. Now she’s reclaiming ownership of those designs and re-releasing them under her own brand. She’s also the author of the powerful embroidery book Represent!, which offers techniques and motifs that uplift people of color while centering allyship and community. Bianca is a true bright spot in the sewing world. Be sure to follow her work at @thanksimadethem, and enjoy this inspiring conversation.
