The Whispering Woods : Real Life Ghost & Paranormal Stories

For decades, people along Arkansas’s White River reported seeing an enormous grey creature moving beneath the muddy water. In 1937 the sightings sparked a full-scale monster hunt involving armed patrols, a professional diver and hundreds of spectators, before the creature returned more than thirty years later and Arkansas created an official refuge to protect it.

For more than a decade, the Procter family and their visitors reported footsteps, violent knocking, moving beds and apparitions inside their home beside Willington Mill in Northumberland. The haunting became so notorious that sceptical surgeon Edward Drury spent the night there in 1840, only to leave after an encounter with a grey-clothed woman that he recorded in writing just days later.
