Boots on the Ground | Ash Barker
For 35 years, Ash and Anji Barker have made bold, countercultural choices—embedding themselves in some of the world’s most overlooked and underestimated neighbourhoods. From the rough edges of Springvale in Australia, to the vibrant resilience of Bangkok’s Klong Toey slum, to the heart of inner-city Birmingham, their journey is one of hope, grit, and deep-rooted faith.Through it all, they’ve championed the belief that every local community holds untapped potential—and with the right love, leadership, and lived presence, transformation is possible. Their story is not just inspiring—it’s a living testament to what happens when you show up, stay the course, and believe that no place is too far gone. Don’t miss this powerful conversation. A Severe Mercy | Nadim Ednan-Laperouse OBE
Nadim was a successful entrepreneur, happily married, and with two wonderful children. But the dream life was shattered when he took his daughter Natasha and her best friend on holiday to France. Tragically, Natasha had an anaphylactic reaction shortly after takeoff after ingesting sesame seeds in her sandwich, from which she never recovered. Subsequently, Nadim and his wife Tanya founded the Natasha Allergy Research Foundation, and their campaigning - for which they were both awarded an OBE by the Queen - has led to changes in the law. Nadim’s journey to faith through this horrendous experience is deeply touching, and God has opened doors of real influence and opportunity for him to witness gently to the Prince of Peace in many different contexts. I spent much of this interview in tears, so it’s a different flavour from previous episodes, but deeply moving and inspiring.Do check out www.narf.org.ukAnd you can contact Nadim at nadim.el[@]narf.org.uk ---🚲 Support or join Bike for Burundi: greatlakesoutreach.org/bike ❤️ Support our work in Burundi: greatlakesoutreach.org/inspired ---▶️ Subscribe to us on YouTube📸 Follow us on Instagram: @inspiredwith.sg📲 Weekly episode WhatsApp link: greatlakesoutreach.org/whatsapp📧 Weekly email notification: greatlakesoutreach.org/inspiredemailFor more from Simon, visit: simonguillebaud.com---🌍 Produced by Great Lakes Outreach - Transforming Burundi & Beyond: greatlakesoutreach.org
