Ian Wilson: 65, DucatiX Rally & Red Bull Romaniacs! | The Outside Line Podcast

What do you get when a 65-year-old takes on one of the toughest Enduro races on the planet… on a DucatiX Rally?

In this episode of The Outside Line Podcast, British enduro rider and Roadskin founder Ian Wilson has etched his name into motorsport history, becoming the first person ever to officially complete the Red Bull Romaniacs hard enduro rally aboard a Ducati motorcycle. Competing under race number 1203 at 65 years of age, Wilson piloted the Ducati DesertX Rally through four gruelling days and 650 kilometres of brutal mountain terrain in Romania's Carpathian Mountains, crossing the finish line in Sibiu to seal a truly historic achievement in the Adventure Lite class. Wilson competed in the newly introduced Adventure Lite class, a category designed to open the rally to a wider range of riders and machines. His finish not only marks a personal milestone but also highlights the expanding off-road capabilities of Ducati's adventure range in some of the most extreme racing conditions on earth.

The boys then turn their attention to the latest British Superbike Championship action from Thruxton, where the racing delivered plenty of thrills and drama as usual!

We catch up with double race winner Ryan Vickers from Honda Racing UK by phone to get his thoughts on a hugely successful weekend, while Michael Rutter - Team Manager of Bathams AJN Racing joins us on the phone to clear up some of the latest rumours and speculation doing the rounds.

Episode 23 of The Outside Line is a big one, so we’ve split it into two parts!

In Part 1, Jack Burnicle and James Whitham take a look at the 2026 British Superbike Championship as we reach the halfway point of the season. They review all the action from Round 6, look ahead to the upcoming Thruxton round – the fastest circuit on the BSB calendar – and assess how the riders have performed so far.

And this isn’t your usual mid-season review… Jack and Whit give the riders their very own school report, grading their performances so far and asking who’s been top of the class, who needs to improve and who has surprised them this season.
