When The Omen premiered in 1976 it caused a stir globally. While continuing the legacy of recent supernatural horror movies like Rosemary’s Baby, and The Exorcist, it almost went a step further by depicting the anti-christ himself in the character of little Damien. Religious leaders were worried that depicting the anti-christ and his work would invite chaos and destruction — and they weren’t wrong — the movie production would become one of the most disastrous and infamous with several deaths linked to what would eventually be known… as the curse of The Omen.

In August of 1944, residents of Mattoon, Illinois began waking up in the middle of night to a strange, sweet smell floating in the room. When they tried to get out of bed and investigate, they realised… they couldn’t move their legs.
