Casual Mode | Episode 6: Peak Gaming Was Probably 2003, Actually

    27/03/2026 | 39 mins.
This week we're grieving tennis games that were better when we were twelve, arguing about gadgets that exist purely to make you feel like you're doing something productive, and somehow ending up in a conversation about digital handwriting like adults.

The main event: games that looked you dead in the eye, showed you a cinematic trailer, took your £60, and delivered something that can only be described as a crime against expectations. You know the ones.

We also get into collectible cards (yes, really), YouTube subscriptions (the irony is not lost on us), and the usual banter that makes this show either charming or insufferable depending on your tolerance levels.

Chapters if you want to skip straight to the bit where we lose the plot: 00:00 Tennis Gaming Nostalgia 05:59 Humorous Banter and Inside Jokes 19:43 Digital Penmanship and Gaming 30:49 Games that Lied to Us 38:37 Collectible Cards and Subscriptions

Casual Mode | Episode 5: Flash Games & Crimson Desert

    20/03/2026 | 46 mins.
Five episodes. They've done five of these. I've written five of these descriptions. One of us needs to have a serious think about our life choices.

This week our intrepid hosts stumble through gaming reviews, gameplay stories nobody will fact-check, and a nostalgia spiral about flash games that were free in 2007 for a reason. Pokopia is discussed with an enthusiasm usually reserved for things that are actually good. Minecraft gets a mention because of course it does. Futurama too, because apparently we're covering everything.

There is a genuine conversation about AI upscaling and artistic control buried in here somewhere, which I will admit has some merit. Finding it is your problem.

The second half pivots to movies and someone's dining experience, which I assume was life-changing because otherwise why are we here.

I typed all of this so you didn't have to wonder what the episode was about. You're still going to watch it without reading this. I know. I always know.

Casual Mode | Episode 4: Are Games Getting Worse… Or Are We Just Older?

    06/03/2026 | 58 mins.
    Episode 4 of Casual Mode.
This one’s Dan and Ethan joined by Laurie, which means the conversation goes from AI podcasts to Pokémon to the gaming industry having a mild existential crisis. Pretty standard.

We get into AI-generated podcasts, Nintendo nostalgia, controller design, console exclusives, PC gaming, and whether the industry is quietly running out of fresh ideas. Cheerful stuff.

Anyway, if you like relaxed gaming chat that drifts between tech, games and the occasional rant about modern gaming, this is probably your thing.

    ⏱ Timestamps
00:00 – Intro & AI-generated podcasts (should we be worried?)
09:52 – Pokémon, Nintendo games & upcoming releases
34:02 – Enthusiasm for gaming & how consoles have evolved
39:07 – Is the gaming industry starting to stagnate?

Casual Mode | Episode 2: You Won’t Believe How Long They Talk About Storage

    07/02/2026 | 45 mins.
Hi. Ed here. I edited this. I regret some of it.
This episode features Karl, Ethan, and Dan doing what they do best, which is starting on gaming news and TV chat, then immediately drifting into political commentary with the confidence of men who have Googled at least one headline.
From there, things slide into a long nostalgia trip about tech and gaming. RAM and storage limits get discussed way more than any normal person would expect, which tells me all three of you were traumatised by deleting save files at some point. Data privacy comes up too, mostly in a “remember when this felt less bleak” way, while continuing to use modern tech anyway.
Windows Phone somehow gets a serious mention, which I left in because it made me laugh. There’s also console exclusivity chat, because obviously someone had to defend their plastic box of choice.

The middle section is basically retro mobile games: tiny screens, terrible controls, and games you all insist were brilliant despite the evidence. Lots of fond memories, mild exaggeration, and strong “this was better back then” energy.

We eventually stagger into a YouTube Premium discussion. Some of you pay for it. Some of you judge the ones who do. Nobody changes their mind. I cut none of it.
