Ekiuwa Asemota, also known as “Eki,” is a multifaceted creative and entrepreneur. She is the founder of Eki’s Famous LLC, a dynamic fashion and performing arts company. Additionally, she serves as the creative director of Your Queens, a costume character company dedicated to educating audiences about the rich legacy of historic African queens through captivating storytelling, song, and dance. Eki’s remarkable work has garnered recognition from leading media outlets including Essence, HuffPost, Apple TV, WBLS, and NY1, solidifying her reputation as a talented and influential figure. She frequently engages as a speaker and performer at public schools, organizations, corporations, and community events, sharing her insights, talents, and experiences. As a master dance teaching artist, she has collaborated with esteemed organizations such as Camille Brown and Dancers, KS J.A.M. Dance Troupe, and the Center for Arts and Education. Her focus lies in nurturing self-esteem and instilling a sense of joy and confidence in her students. Eki has also brought her artistry to major stages and community platforms, including AfroPunk, the International African Arts Festival, and the Juneteenth Empowerment Festival in Rocky Mount, NC. These performances reflect her passion for merging cultural heritage with modern expression, reaching diverse audiences locally and globally. Currently, Eki teaches dance and inspirational arts experiences at corporations, schools, organizations, community groups, and also works one-on-one with individuals. She provides creative and cultural programming tailored to meet diverse needs, ensuring youth, adults, and seniors are empowered to express themselves freely through the arts. In addition to her teaching, Eki is actively building the Your Queens Center for Housing & Arts in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. This project will restore a historic house into a safe, inclusive space that merges affordable housing with arts and culture. The center will provide mentorship, dance classes, partnerships, and affordable artist residencies, while also creating opportunities for marginalized voices, under-served populations, and seniors to thrive and contribute to the cultural fabric of the community. Beyond her arts work, Eki helps manage more than 50 rental units with her fiancé Charles Roberson, focusing on real estate development and neighborhood revitalization. Together, they are creating safe, affordable, and welcoming spaces for families. This dual commitment to both housing and the arts reflects their shared belief in building stronger communities through creativity, opportunity, and empowerment.
