Sligo train station changes take effect from today
Changes to notice requirements at Sligo train station has taken effect from today.This means people with a disability who require assistance will need to inform Irish Rail one hour before travelling, instead of 12.The changes take effect at 15 stations nationwide including Dublin Connolly and Galway.Jane Cregan, of Irish Rail, explains the improvements in accessibility this will provide for passengers:
Taoiseach pays tribute to Donegal swimming tragedy victims
The victims of last weekend’s swimming tragedy in Donegal have been remembered in the Dáil.Emmanuel Familola, who was 16 and 18-year-old Matt Sibanda had been playing football on the beach at Ned's Point, just outside Buncrana on Saturday afternoon and had gone into the water to retrieve a ball.Later that evening, the body of Matt Sibanda was recovered from Lough Swilly.While Emmanuel Familola was rescued and taken to Letterkenny University Hospital but he passed away in the early hours of Sunday morning.A third teenage boy managed to make it back to shore.Taoiseach Micheál Martin spoke of the devastating loss one community now face:

Donegal MD united against Bundoran protest at Cllr's home
Members of the Donegal MD have united in solidarity to condemn a weekend incident outside the home of Sinn Fein Cllr Michael McMahon in Bundoran. An anti immigration protest descended on the doorstep of the Cllrs family home on Saturday. At todays sitting of the Donegal MD, a number of local representatives described the incident as unacceptable and branded those involved as bullies. Fellow Cllrs, including Cathaoirleach of the Donegal MD Cllr Noel Jordan, stated that they stand shoulder to shoulder in support of Cllr Michael McMahon over what happened.
