James and Robert are here with a new episode of The Double Cleanse – and this week they’re tackling the products that you absolutely DON’T need… but you might find useful anyway!

We’re starting off with why the beauty awards system is a total SCAM! The twins are revealing some TEA: many beauty and content creator awards are literally paid-for wins. Someone high up in the beauty industry confirmed to them that brands pay to win awards. Robert has even won an award before which cost £5 – and they didn’t even let him keep the trophy (it got melted down for scrap!).

For the main event of the show, James and Robert are talking about the unnecessary products that solve specific problems. From the sebum softener which extracts blackheads, whiteheads and sebaceous filaments to the powders that provide colour correction (say goodbye to liquid correctors!), they have it all.

There’s also a powder spray (yes, a spray can with powder!), the lip oil which “is not like other lip oils” and even a remedy for dry hands that James wishes he had started using many years ago.

James and Robert want to be clear: you don’t need ANY of these products… but if they solve a specific problem you have or if you want that extra benefit, they’re all genuinely good options.

We're back with another episode of The Double Cleanse, and this week James & Robert are tackling problematic content trends, influencer drama and products they’ve been influenced into buying (for better or worse)!

After opening with a rant about unreadable subtitle fonts, the twins dive into how creators are prioritizing aesthetics over accessibility. People are using pastel yellow text, Comic Sans, multiple different fonts – all in the name of a “visual hook” – completely forgetting that subtitles were invented for people to actually read them.

Then there’s the over-production trend where people step in and around captions like it’s choreography. One girl fell through her ceiling (seemingly AI-generated) and made a tutorial on “how to do it” – influencing other creators to manufacture equally dramatic content.

The main topic on this episode are the products that James and Robert have been influenced into buying! They're talking about the plumping lip mask that is all over TikTok and K-beauty spaces, the foundation marketed as "for mature skin" on the brand's but aimed at everyone on TikTok and the intensive serum which has seemingly disappeared from the shelves... After opening with how much they genuinely love being recognized by fans (especially when someone is wearing their merch – the best feeling ever), the twins dive into the darker side of influencer culture: people taking candid photos without permission. After a debate about what’s acceptable to wear on a red carpet, the twins dive into whether the influencer bubble is potentially bursting. Are people sick to death of influencer culture… even Robert has admitted that he’s reaching his limit!
