A “smart home” that costs a fortune should not end with the client ripping everything out and going back to basic light switches, but that’s exactly the kind of story we unpack here. Simon Gregory and I start with what we’ve been seeing on the road: real demos, real training, and the small details that separate a slick home cinema experience from a frustrating one that constantly needs rescuing.

We share takeaways from a CAVD day featuring Krix home cinema systems, including what impressed us about the MX20 Mark II in a true residential setup and why output targets, calibration position, and clean demo sources (Kaleidescape, Tidal) shape what clients believe is possible.
