Unshakable Curiosity: A Messianic Jew's Journey (Diane Cohen)

    03/08/2026 | 30 mins.
In this God Hears Her episode, hosts Elisa Morgan and Eryn Eddy Adkins welcome Unshakable Moxie Season 2 guest, Diane Cohen, a woman who was raised in a Jewish home where Jesus’ name was forbidden. After caring for her mother through terminal cancer and losing her in 1999, Diane fell into a deep grief until she wrote a gospel-style song that lifted her out and sparked years of curiosity about Jesus. Diane experienced multiple stunning moments that eventually led to her accepting Jesus and becoming a Messianic Jew. Join this incredible conversation to hear Diane's advice for helping people who may be wrestling with accepting Jesus.

Guest Bio: Diane Cohen has been an active leader in the Messianic Jewish community since she first met Jesus. She was the president of Congregation Ruach Israel in Needham, Massachusetts, and served in that capacity for over a decade. Diane still serves on its board of directors and is also on the board of directors of the Messianic Jewish Theological Institute (MJTI) and Camp Or L’Dor. She also facilitates a multi-denominational Bible study group in Florida where she, her husband Sid, and their fur baby Sofie spend the winters. When not there, the Cohens live in Phippsburg, Maine.

    Notes and Quotes:
“I wasn’t looking for Him—He was looking for me, I guess really hard!” —Diane Cohen

“Nothing will shake my faith because it’s true, He’s there, He’s got us, He’ll never leave us, He loves us. And you can’t make that less no matter what anyone says to you.” —Diane Cohen

“God is really reaching out to people—unlikely people—to say ‘fight for this kingdom on earth.’” —Diane Cohen

“I think that we are living in times where we are being asked to really dig deep; to fight for Him, to be for Him, to stand up for Him, to show who He is, and to share our testimonies.” —Diane Cohen

    Community Hurt

    01/06/2026 | 41 mins.
Betrayal inside the church hits differently. It shakes your faith, your friendships, and sometimes your sense of self. In this episode, Elisa, Eryn, and Vivian get honest about their own experiences with community hurt—the kind that's hard to talk about and even harder to heal from. Together, they turn to Jesus, who knew betrayal intimately, to ask: What does it actually look like to move forward? This is the conversation you didn't know you needed.

    Notes and Quotes:

“Jesus had relationships knowing He was going to get hurt.” —Eryn Eddy Adkins

“Do I love God because of what He gives me and these outcomes that I expect in my life? Do I love Him conditionally like a vending machine—I say the prayer, and out comes the blessing and it’s transactional? Or do I love Him unconditionally? Do I love Him, come what may?” —Vivian Mabuni

"Do I love in that kind of way with others—is the type of love I display to others conditional or is it an unconditional love because of how God has loved me?” —Vivian Mabuni

“God’s love extends to all.” —Elisa Morgan

    Verses:
    Luke 22:20-54

    John 21:15-19
