- Hey, Who fans, and welcome to The Big Blue Box Roundtable.
After a couple of months away, the July roundtable brings Garry, Matt, Maria, and Harry back together to pick up everything that's happened since we last recorded. And there's been a lot.
We kick off with a proper recap of the DWAS Capital event down at the Crowne Plaza, covering everything from Paul McGann practically joining us for breakfast to Matt's unexpected few minutes talking bacon and sausages with Dan Starkey, Tommy Knight and Gary Russell's "Return to Bannerman Road" panel, the Saturday night auction, and why Tony Jordan deserves a massive thank you for what he's built over the years.
Then we get to the news that dropped while we were away. The Christmas special is gone, Russell T Davies and Bad Wolf are out, and the show is going to tender. We each share where we landed on all of it, and the feelings are not exactly simple. There's disappointment about the way it was handled, frustration about being lied to about a script that apparently never existed, a strong reaction or two to RTD's Instagram post, and the broader question of what happens to Doctor Who now and who might bring it back.
We also end up in a full debate about whether filming in Wales has run its course, and the conversation goes somewhere nobody expected.

Until the next episode, take care and... Aaaaaaaallons-y! - Hey, Who fans! Something a little different is landing in your feed today. This is the very first episode of Federation Strike: A Journey Through Blake's 7, a Blake's 7 podcast hosted by us.
The show follows lifelong superfan, Adam, and newcomer, Garry, as we work through every episode of the classic BBC sci-fi series together. If you've ever been curious about Blake's 7 but never made the jump, this is a great place to get acquainted with the show.
Think of it as the Big Blue Box format applied to a show that shares a lot of DNA with classic Doctor Who — same era, same BBC corridors, same Dudley Simpson on the music — but with a darker edge and its own distinct identity. This first episode covers The Way Back, the 1978 series opener written by Terry Nation.
The podcast is well underway, and at the time of this episode going out, we're currently halfway through reviewing Series 2, with plenty more still to come.

Until the next episode, take care and... Aaaaaaaallons-y! - Hey, Who fans, and welcome to The Big Blue Box Roundtable.
On this episode, we don’t really have much concrete news, so it’s rumours and hearsay. We discuss the public two-horse race for the showrunner role (there could be other horses in the race, who knows) and the rumour that Netflix wants more control over format and runtime, IF they are, in fact, the next streaming partner.
All interesting stuff, so grab a cuppa and settle in as we chat about all things Doctor Who!

It's the first Roundtable of 2026! Since we last recorded, the remaining episodes of The War Between have been released, so we spent some time chatting about the series as a whole and yep, that ending. There's plenty more chat about all things Doctor Who, so grab a cuppa and join us for the usual Roundtable chatter and waffle.
