In this week’s episode we wrap up our deep-dive into Nietzsche's era initiating classic: “Beyond Good and Evil” by traversing chapter 3, the religious mood and a handful of his aphorisms in chapter 4; Julian the Philosopher lending historical context and depth throughout.  In the free side of the show we focus on Nietzsche's criticism of Christianity and where, he believes, the proper place of religion ought to be. In this week’s episode we continue through Nietzsche's Aeonic Philosophy as laid out in one of his all time greatest hits: Beyond Good and Evil. While the first chapter dealt with an era-shattering criticism of classical philosophy which ended upon a warning about, (having killed the old philosophies) the coming of the new philosopher or Free Spirit. As our special guest, Julian The Philosopher adds some much needed historical context and nuance to Nietzsche's words and sets us up to explore the new philosopher, the first spirit and the Ubermensch in greater depth. Who are those people anyway? Still fresh with excitement from the text, Luke (that's me) fixates on the overlap between the hazy image Nietzsche paints and the mystical poetry in Aleister Crowley’s “Book of the Law,” which outlines, in slightly more poetic fashion, a remarkably similar ideal. On the free side of the show we touch upon Nietzsche's hilarious ideas about race which, despite being a little controversial today, we can still have a good laugh about with good humor on our side. In the extended side of the show we explore the Will to Power as it is introduced in the text and how it lines up with Hadit’s words in the Book of the Law. Thank you and enjoy the show!

In this week’s episode we are joined by Julian the Philosopher as our special guest to discuss one of Friedrich Nietzsche's most celebrated and important works of philosophy, his book “Beyond Good and Evil.” If you’ve been following our prolonged discussion with Julian, one big question we are attempting to tackle in earnest is where does Aleister Crowley and the religion of Thelema fall within the moral spectrum found between Homer, Socrates and Fredriech Nietzsche. Because Nietzsche is considered a Thelemic saint we compare passages within Beyond Good and Evil to The Book of the Law while Julian peppers us with historical and philosophical context along with the tea about Nietzsche's utterly tortured love life. As with anytime we’re discussing anything of cosmic importance on this show, the gods try to test us and Julian's electric grid was actively being struck by Thor’s hammer throughout our discussion. This resulted in some unpleasantly low compression at times, so, we ask you to just bare with us and we’ll have it fixed next time. By the end of the free show you’ll have a pretty solid idea of where this adventure is going next time and if you want double the abuse for your brain, we finish the entirety of chapter 1 by the conclusion of the extended episode. In this week’s episode we conclude our three part journey through the seventeen stages of the heroes journey as laid out by Joseph Campbell in his seminal work “Hero with a Thousand Faces.” In the free section of the show we discuss THE ULTIMATE BOON which we explore in its various manifestations including the traditional narcotic coded drink of the gods and heroes; soma.
