- We bagged another writer on this week's episode of Yes, No, Maybe!
Eric Kaplan is the writer of Dirty Magazine, Victor's Other Family, Dewey's Opera, Ida's Dance, Blackout, and Hal Grieves.
He has written for many other beloved and hilarious TV shows over the course of his incredible career AND he managed to get PhD in philosophy from UC Berkeley... kinda insane.
We were thrilled to get into Eric's take on the Malcolm writer's room, a bit of Linwood lore, philosophical musings on these characters, and more during this episode.
HUGE shoutout to his NEW ANIMATION STUDIO Kap Knap, found here: https://www.youtube.com/@Kapknap
They just launched their first show "My Friend Coffee", which we talk about in the interview!
As always, this episode is a part of the Gotham Podcast Network and was recorded at their production studio in Manhattan. Book a studio here: https://www.gothamproductionstudios.com - Guilty!! And the charge? Another banger episode of YNM! I love writing descriptions!!
Today on YNM the sibs talk about a classic Kwepisode, JURY DUTY, which includes an all-timer Francis subplot and finds Lois in a riff on Sidney Lumet's amazing 12 Angry Men. Love this episode.
We hope you enjoy!

^^ Complete nonsense sentence to anyone not familiar with S3E19 of Malcolm in the Middle.
Ryan and Willa are stepping it UP and recording DOWN in Gotham Production Studios this week and for all weeks to come. It's about damn time we actually look good and sound even better.
Willa calls this episode of Malcolm "their most psychological yet" and then immediately backs down. But there is psychology goin' around thanks to guest star Andy "Daly" Richter.
Ryan makes at least 2 major mistakes this episode, bonus points if people can point out more in the comments!
Love you all; we were incredibly saddened to hear about Hayden Panettiere's passing this week and want to acknowledge her fantastic contribution to this wonderful show we all adore. <3
This show is part of the Gotham Network, you can record your podcast at gothamproductionstudios.com - Royal flush (poker term)!! Today on YNM, Willa and Ryan discuss Season 3's "Poker #2," a sequel to the classic Ken Kwapis joint "Poker" from earlier this season! And like every sequel to a perfect object, there's a high bar to clear. Do they do it? Look... I don't know. No. Is that what you want to hear? But it's a fun episode anyway! And a totally bizarre one! Malcolm fires a live pistol into his family home and nearly kills Abe!
Willa and I are sort of all over the place this ep, but in fairness it was 1000 degrees when we recorded it. Please enjoy!
Recorded at Gotham Production Studios in Manhattan.
Book a recording space here: https://www.gothamproductionstudios.com/ - This week, the siblings (us) got to talk to one of our absolute favorite Malcolm in the Middle actors: Eric Nenninger.
He plays none other than Cadet Eric Hanson, a sensitive yet misguided boy who is unfortunately linked to one of humanity's most desperate creatures: Francis.
We had a hoot chatting with Eric about his time on Malcolm, and what it was like to return to the show that shaped him.
Finally we get to the bottom of questions like: is Francis popular? Why is Eric in military school? Have you seen the Bernard Unit in person?
This and so much more in our exclusive interview with Eric Nenninger. Big thanks to Eric for taking the time to chat with us!!
ENJOY.
