Burgers, Barbecue and Birthday Dinners — Florida Living Life is Eating Well

    22/05/2026 | 16 mins.
Burgers, Barbecue and Birthday Dinners — Florida Living Life is Eating Well
    Episode Summary
Julie is still on the diet. Jamie is still bringing home burgers. Florida Living Life rolls on. This week the duo covers a packed run of restaurants, a birthday dinner debate for Rosie, a Netflix binge recap, and a standing invitation to any chef in South Florida who thinks they can wow them at the table.
Business is growing. The DMs are coming in. And the stack list is live.

    🍽 Restaurant Highlights
Burger King A split burger and some chicken cutlets kicked off the week. Not diet approved but always appreciated.
Dave's Hot Chicken Jamie ordered the mild and it delivered. Looked terrifying, tasted amazing. Do not let the heat level scare you off.
BurgerFi – Delray Beach / Boca Raton Julie went with the lettuce wrap burger and loved it. The fries were a standout. A fantastic option for a clean but satisfying burger experience.
Pig Beach Barbecue – West Palm Beach, Dixie Highway The ribs were good. The pickled red onions and pickles elevated the whole plate. The Wagyu beef burger gets strong marks. Skip the beans. Get the smash burger or the Wagyu and you will not be disappointed.
Moya – Florida A new burger spot on the radar. The buns are exceptional. The cheeseburger leans more meatloaf style, which is different in a good way. Worth a visit.
Hurricane Wings – Florida A regular stop and Rosie approved. The order every time: ten piece wings, all flats, Gold Rush sauce for Rosie, buffalo well done for Julie, and the garlic parmesan fries. The fried fish sandwich is also a hidden gem worth trying.
Papa Chulos – Royal Palm Beach A return visit that missed the mark this time. It happens. Still a shoutout worthy restaurant. The love is still there.
Cafe Med – West Palm Beach Jamie forgot they went here entirely, which says something, but the food was actually solid. The homemade gnocchi was a highlight. The seafood risotto earned a seven. Overall rating: seven and a half to eight. One of the better boutique cafe restaurants in West Palm Beach. Chef Nico is one to watch.
Hawkers – Delray Beach On the calendar for an upcoming dinner out. Anticipation is high.
Sushi Yama – Wellington Back in the running for Rosie's birthday dinner. All you can eat for around $35 to $38. A proven favorite.
Fat Boy Sushi – Florida The hibachi style meal was a solid experience even without tableside cooking. Worth a visit for the hibachi plates.
Rain Dancer Steakhouse – West Palm Beach Already reviewed and still earning praise. One of the best in the area.
Ruth's Chris Steakhouse and Gallagher's Both on Rosie's birthday wish list. Still under consideration.

Mother's Day, Mall Wars and Where Are We Eating This Weekend?

    Episode Summary
Julie and Jamie are back and this episode has it all. Mother's Day plans, a new restaurant on the radar, a debate about how well you really know your spouse, and a deep dive into the best malls in South Florida. Oh, and Jamie ate Burger King tots live before the episode even started. Florida Living Life is in full swing.
The podcast is now charting number 24 in Food in the United States and number six in South Africa. They are on their way.

    🍽 Restaurant Highlights

Burger King Jamie kicked things off with the Imperial Cheddar Ranch tots from the Mandalorian and Grogu promotion. Verdict: really good.
The Way Back – Florida A beloved mainstay bar that has been around for years. Julie had the fish sandwich and loved it. The mozzarella triangle sticks and smash burgers are standouts. Great people, great food.
Joy Sushi – Dixie Highway, Florida One of Julie's favorites. Rice noodles with shrimp and beef, killer vegetable rolls, and a mix of Japanese and Vietnamese options. The owner also has a location in Fort Lauderdale. A solid go to for a relaxed dinner out.
Vinny's Cafe – Florida Another visit, no line this time. The wraps are always a hit. Off season perks at one of South Florida's most beloved spots.
Papa Chulos – Royal Palm Beach The Mother's Day destination is set. Rosie was not thrilled, but the decision has been made. Papa Chulos wins again.
Mario the Baker – Royal Palm Beach On the shortlist for a Friday night dinner. Great pizza, great atmosphere, always a strong option.
Outback Steakhouse – Royal Palm Beach Always in the rotation. The coconut shrimp, the steaks, the ribs, and the bread with butter. Everyone at the Outback knows Rosie and her ordering shenanigans. That says everything.
Mr. B's Tavern – West Palm Beach A new spot on the radar owned by the same people behind The Kitchen in West Palm Beach. A bar and sports bar vibe with great starters and Buffalo wings. A Friday night visit may be coming soon.
Seminole Casino Deli – Coconut Creek Julie won $313 on the slot machines last visit. The casino itself gets high marks. The deli, still a work in progress.
Shake Shack and Pomodoro – Boca Town Center Mall Highlights from the Boca Mall food court. Pomodoro gets strong praise. The food court overall is a win.

    🛍 Mall Report

Millennium Mall in Orlando takes the top spot. Boca Town Center comes in at number two. Palm Beach Gardens Mall needs a serious refresh. Worth Avenue in Palm Beach is an experience all on its own, especially the Lilly Pulitzer store.

Fast Food Florida! Big Arch, Five Guys, Jets Pizza and Everything in Between

    01/05/2026 | 20 mins.
Fast Food Florida! Big Arch, Five Guys, Jets Pizza and Everything in Between

    Episode Summary

Julie and Jamie are going full fast food this episode and they are not apologizing for it. Jamie ate a Big Arch live on air. Julie is on a diet. The tension is real. The food is good. Florida Living Life rolls on.

    🍽 Restaurant Highlights

McDonald's Jamie ate a Big Arch live on air. Thumbs up. Julie wants hers next time with extra Mac sauce.

Arby's A regular stop for Jamie. The mozzarella sticks and the chicken cordon bleu sandwich both get high marks.

Five Guys – Wellington and Boca Raton Julie went with the lettuce wrap burger bowl. Boca Raton location edges out Wellington. Allergy friendly for gluten and dairy free diners.

Jets Pizza Jamie has reviewed over 116 pizzas and Jets ranks up there. The cheesy crunchy crust is the move. Julie wanted the round gluten free version and got the Detroit style instead. She is still processing that.

Death by Pizza – Boca Raton Jamie's verdict: the best Detroit style pizza in South Florida right now in 2026.

Rain Dancer Steakhouse – West Palm Beach Open since 1975. The burger earned an 8.9, one of the best since moving to Florida. Early bird special runs four to six, full course meal for around $25 to $29.

Houston's – Boca Raton High end chain steakhouse with stellar waitstaff. Jamie had the burger, Julie had the chicken sandwich. Both were a hit.

Outback Steakhouse – Royal Palm Beach A regular favorite. Grilled barbecue chicken is always solid. The bread and butter? Always a win.

Flakowitz – Boynton Beach Julie skipped the Reuben and went with open turkey, cranberry, and gravy. No regrets. Also home to what they are calling the best raspberry linzer tart cookie in the state of Florida.

Seminole Casino Deli – Coconut Creek Jamie's verdict: garbage. The rest of the table disagreed. Order at your own risk.

What is on the Table, Florida? 10 Years, Time Capsules and The Best Eats in South Florida

    13/04/2026 | 15 mins.
What is on the Table, Florida? 10 Years, Time Capsules and The Best Eats in South Florida

    Episode Summary

Julie and Jamie celebrate 10 years of marriage by cracking open old wedding cards, revisiting honeymoon memories, and debating whether all 10 years were actually great. Spoiler: they are still married, so that counts.
From Weight Watchers wins to restaurant wars, they break down the real tension behind Florida dining — where to go, what to order, and why sharing a meal almost never works out. Spoiler alert: Mark at the Outback might just be the best waiter in all of Florida.

    🍽 Restaurant Highlights

Longhorn Steakhouse – West Palm Beach The seventh busiest Longhorn in the US, but it left them underwhelmed. The Outback comparison did not help.

Outback Steakhouse – Royal Palm Beach The gold standard. Great food, great service, and home to Mark, possibly the most patient server on the planet. Big shoutout to Mark for handling Julie's mom Rosie with total grace. Employee of the Year, no question.

Sushi Yama – Wellington, Florida All you can eat sushi near the Wellington Mall for around $35. The lo mein stole the show.

Olive Garden – West Palm Beach Area Julie's solo mission. Grilled chicken parmesan with broccoli and a salad. Solid, diet friendly, and better than expected.

Mario the Baker – Royal Palm Beach Great pizza, great sauce, great owners. A must visit for any pizza lover in Palm Beach County.

Papa Chulos – Royal Palm Beach The surprise star of the episode. The coconut shrimp soft shell taco is a must order. Chips, queso, and guac that are out of this world. Happy hour almost every day. Julie has been four times in the last month alone. Do not sleep on this place.

Rocco's Tacos – Florida A longtime favorite now facing serious competition from Papa Chulos.

Flakowitz – South Florida Solid deli, great for a casual meal with mom. Julie ordered a Ruben by mistake. She does not like corned beef. She is still not over it.

Lucille's BBQ – Florida Great barbecue spot. The brisket nachos are tender, slightly sweet, and absolutely worth ordering.

Dada – Delray Beach Already a favorite for the cheeseburger alone. A deeper review is coming soon.

True Food Kitchen – Florida A solid healthy option. Verdict: okay.
    🇬🇷 On the Hunt
