  • Bonus Episode: Car Parking, Parking Apps, Trolleys in the way and Bowling Shoes....
Send us a textPrepare your ears for 10 minutes or so of bonus MDC content based around car parking…After a recent trip to the town centre, Andy’s found the multi-storey carpark now demands you pay in advance rather than upon return to your vehicle. It’s a cash grab, and a pain in the backside! Jon’s pet parking peeve is people leaving shopping trolleys in the spaces, we discuss whether you should be able to pay for a trolley by card, and even if the cattle grid ‘anti theft’ system used to keep trolleys in their place could be used in schools, perhaps with special shoes like the bowling alley. Coincidentally, where are all these shoes now?!! Lastly, we talk about rubbish being thrown from cars, something Jon suggests should be punished by a 3 day stint in the clink. Hope you enjoy this one, see you next week for a usual ‘full’ episode. Please leave us a 5* review on Apple Podcasts. • Katie Ramsay-Gough: Dad's green Rover, Mum's sandals caused an accident and Driven Minds Mental Health in motorsport. S6E9
Send us a textWe're joined today by Katie Ramsay-Gough, a car enthusiast and Director of Driven Minds, a support group promoting mental health awareness in the motorsport paddock. You can find out more about Driven Minds here: Home - Driven MindsKatie, by her own admission has a terrible memory, but with some pre-show reminders from her brother she recalls a green Rover saloon as her earliest car memory. It was an ex-company car, not much to look at by all accounts, although treated to a slippery car valet prior to their purchase, and the greasy residue from the interior treatment remained on the door handles for the entirety of their ownership. After the Rover came a dark blue VW Bora, followed by a VW Passat. We later hear about an Audi A5, which had to be rescued from the Silverstone circuit paddock after a wet British Grand Prix weekend. Whilst there were 4x4's on hand to pull cars out the mud, they were also removing bumpers at the same time! Luckily the local Rugby Club had been called up to do the work by hand, and with Katie asking nicely, she recruited plenty of blokes to free them from the quagmire. Katies husband does some racing in his spare time, and Katie is involved with the Citroen C2 racing club, so talk turns to this relatively cheap and incredibly close series, and how she crashed a C2 on a track day too! Talking of which, her Mum once crashed her car due to a loose sandal, and her feet hitting the wrong pedals. We hope you enjoy this episode. Support the showWe’d love you to hear and share your stories, please tag and follow us on social media. www.instagram.com/mydadscar_podcastwww.Facebook.com/mydadscar podcastwww.buymeacoffee.com/mydadscarIf you’d like to support the podcast and are able to, you can ‘buy us a coffee’ which will help towards costs of hosting and purchasing equipment to allow us to record guests in person, rather than just on zoom. • Bonus Episode: Cockney Rhyming Slang for Car Names...
Send us a textJoin us for a 5 minutes of bonus chat about utilizing Cockney Rhyming Slang in reference to vehicles of the past. A VW Jetta could  be a Red Setter, a Hans Solo a VW Polo, a Nelson and Winnie a Mini.Trying to get further ideas we turned to Chat GPT, but sadly the magic of rhyming slang is lost on AI, and its suggestions were all laughable for the wrong reasons... Pretty pony and trap to be honest. Can you think of any good ones? • Nathan Tregonning - Mental Health Car Club: My Grandad had a Sierra Cosworth S6E8
Send us a textThis week we are joined by Nathan Tregonning, the man behind the Mental Health Car Club, and in Jon's absence, we welcome a special guest host (and previous guest himself) Paul Gardner from Speed Broker.Nathan's earliest and fondest car memory was travelling to Whitby in his Grandad's Sierra Cosworth. From memory it was a navy blue 3 door, although that was based on an aged photograph. The 1982 registration must be a mistake, perhaps it was on a personalized number plate?Everyone locally knew that car, and although his Grandad loved it, he would often take the bus, or walk to save racking up the miles.Sadly, ill health forced him to sell it, and nothing exciting was to fill its space.Growing up, Nathan was very much influenced by custom and modified car culture, so only really had eyes for those vehicles on the streets. In his local area at least, not much stood out. If you'd like to find out more about Nathan's work encouraging car enthusiasts to speak to each other about mental health, then check him out on instagram here. MentalHealthCarClub (@mentalhealthcarclub) • Instagram photos and videosFind out more about Paul's business, Speed Broker, hereAbout Us - SpeedBrokerWe hope you enjoy this episode. • Paul Medhurst: Grandads Aston Martin, Dad's Austin Princess, Ford Cortina, Mum's Beetle, Mini Cooper and a ride in a 964 S6E7
Send us a textWe're joined this week by Paul Medhurst, the man behind VW workshop, classic car showroom and now destination coffee shop Type 2 Detectives. Paul recalls telling people his Grandad used to drive an Aston Martin - however, his Mum corrected him one day when she overheard him telling some friends... It was actually an Austin Maxi! His Dad had an Austin Princess, then a Ford Cortina which they drove to the South of France. His Mum had a VW Beetle, and later a Mini Cooper, which his Dad scored from the neighbour, after a domestic argument over a brand new VW Campervan meant it had to go! Paul also records a speedy trip around the block in a Porsche 964 with a mate from school... a car which later inspired him to buy his own 964. We hope you enjoy this episode. Please check out Type 2 Detectives here: Type 2 DetectivesWatch their You Tube here: https://youtu.be/fJS-HlnKFa8Support the showWe’d love you to hear and share your stories, please tag and follow us on social media. www.instagram.com/mydadscar_podcastwww.Facebook.com/mydadscar podcastwww.buymeacoffee.com/mydadscarIf you’d like to support the podcast and are able to, you can ‘buy us a coffee’ which will help towards costs of hosting and purchasing equipment to allow us to record guests in person, rather than just on zoom. About My Dad's Car

Andy and Jon have discussions with invited guests about their personal relationships with automotive nostalgia. Each episode kicks of by us asking “what’s your earliest car memory?”From there it’s a journey back through time towards the modern day, but generally focusing on vehicles we remember from childhood. We ask about music, smells, smoking, breakdowns, selling, buying, accidents and more. Despite the podcast title, we don’t discriminate against cars belonging to other people, such as Mum’s, Gran’s, Uncle’s, Aunts, friends, or even a neighbours. If it made an impression, we want to talk about it.Likewise, this isn't a 'dead Dad's' podcast, but we do like to remember those who have passed, and have found it to be therapeutic to speak about our late Fathers whilst recording these shows.
