PREVIEW - The Friday Edition: 19 more predictions about the future.
19/12/2025 | 5 mins.
So, today, I’m going to run it back and see how I do. As I did in 2021, I’m going to accompany each prediction with a one- to two-sentence explanation and a “confidence rating” (or “CR”), so you can see how strongly I hold the belief. The scale is 1 to 10, with 10 being maximum confidence and 1 being lowest confidence. However, I’m not including any prediction that I don’t think has a higher than 50% chance of coming true (otherwise I’d just be throwing darts randomly at the wall). So the 1–10 rating is more like a 51% to 100% rating than 0 to 100.I’d love to hear what you think, or hear predictions of your own. At 9 PM ET on Wednesday, President Donald Trump delivered an address from the White House highlighting what he views as the major accomplishments of the first year of his second term and criticizing his predecessor, former President Joe Biden, for the country’s ongoing issues. In the 18-minute address, Trump mainly focused on his immigration and economic agendas, and he announced a $1,776 “warrior dividend” for members of the military. Notably, he did not address the United States’s rising tensions with Venezuela. Indiana GOP rejects Trump's redistricting effort.
16/12/2025 | 35 mins.
On Thursday, the Republican-controlled Indiana Senate voted 31–19 to reject a redrawn congressional map designed to increase the number of GOP seats in the U.S. House of Representatives. President Donald Trump and national Republicans pushed for the new map and lobbied the state’s Republican leadership to back the effort. In the end, 21 Republican senators joined all 10 Democratic senators in opposing the bill, leaving it short of the 26 votes required to pass.
