In this week’s sermon, Talitha Cumi, Rhona Tackie takes us through Mark 5:21–43 and explores the power of Jesus to bring healing, restoration, and life where there is suffering, fear, and even death.
Through the intertwined stories of the woman who suffered from bleeding for twelve years and Jairus’ twelve-year-old daughter, we see that no situation is beyond the authority of Jesus. While the crowds pressed around Him out of curiosity, the woman reached out to Him in faith. Despite years of suffering and disappointment, her encounter with Jesus brought healing, peace, and a restored identity. She was no longer defined by her condition but affirmed by Jesus as a daughter. Likewise, when Jairus’ daughter appeared to have reached the end of her life, Jesus declared, “Talitha cumi” — meaning, “Little girl, I say to you, get up!” (Mark 5:41). What seemed final to those around her was not beyond His power.
These encounters remind us that Jesus is not limited by time, natural circumstances, or even death itself. He brings holiness where there is uncleanness, freedom where there is oppression, and hope where there seems to be no way forward. As followers of Christ, we are called to move beyond simply being part of the crowd and to pursue a genuine relationship with Him through intentional devotion, discipline, prayer, and encounters with His presence. If Jesus has declared us free, why should we continue to live as though we are still bound?

In this week’s sermon, Faith Breaks Protocols, we explore the power of faith to reach beyond what we can see and experience. Our circumstances and physical realities do not limit what God can do in our lives.

We are reminded to approach the Lord’s throne with boldness, knowing that our deliverance and healing are found in Him. Faith calls us to trust God beyond what is visible and believe in what He is able to do.

In this week’s sermon, What Have You Learned?, we continue through Mark 4:35–41 and reflect on what the storm reveals about our faith, our hearing, and our response to Jesus.

Are we simply entertained by Jesus, or are we willing to take Him as He is and leave the crowd behind? God often speaks truth and asks difficult questions in the middle of challenging seasons, but the question is: have we really heard Him?

Like the good soil, disciples are called to hear, receive, ask questions, and allow the Word to take root. It all starts with a seed — and sometimes God even uses the storm to water what He has planted.

In this week’s sermon, It All Starts With a Seed, we explore the parable of the sower and the power of how we respond to the Word of God.
We are called to respond to the Word, coming together to play our part in the work of the Kingdom. As we sow faithfully, we can trust God with the growth and remain obedient, in praying, and believing that in His time, the harvest will come.
