  • Dr. Ben Robbins
Got a question? Text us here and we’ll respond next ep! Mow. Our chat today is with the former AFL player and sports psychologist at the Saints (now at the Bombers) Dr. Ben Robbins. What a conversation! It's really valuable to hear a perspective on Mental Health from someone not only who has worked with incredible people but is himself and amazing bloke. We dig into his own life and Mental Health journey, his work in and out of sport as a psychologist and a highlight of this is really to see the close relationship between Stocker & the doc! A real mutual respect and caring between them just filled us all up. Enjoy! MoW.

  • Matthew Murphy (The Wombats, Love Fame Tragedy)
Got a question? Text us here and we’ll respond next ep! Mow. Todays chat is with Mr. Matthew Murphy or Murph as he has lovingly been known here in Australia for many years. He is the leader of the enormously successful and incredible band the Wombats and as a part of his side project, Love Fame Tragedy is making even more music if you can believe it!!Murph is in LA so we joined him via Zoom as a throwback and it was head first into all things Mental Health. He is 19 months into sobriety, a father of 2, working prolifically and doing the work on himself. So open about all of it and we are very grateful for the conversation. Enjoy! CW: This episode speaks about the devastating issues of gendered violence in Australia and may be triggering for some people to hear. Support services are available and we encourage anyone to speak out when they feel they can't.Lifeline - 13 11 14

About Men of Words Podcast

Welcome to the Men of Words Podcast! This is a platform for conversation with successful people about Mental Health. Our aim is to speak to males at the top of their fields across sport, business, music and anything in between to hear stories of adversity, failure, success and the Mental Health journey throughout. Opening up about these issues is historically not our strong-suit as males and that is the area we are hoping to have some affect. Liam (Murph) and Michael (Muff) are long time friends with intersecting journeys through the highs and lows of Mental Health, having had personal and professional relationships for years and many conversations like the ones we are choosing to have with these elite performers. Our goal is a simple one. If we can motivate someone to have a conversation about their mental health, be it with friends, family or a professional, then we have achieved our goal. Thanks so much for listening, for any questions or queries please contact us through Instagram @menofwordspodcast or email us at [email protected] If you need support, it's there. Talk to a friend, family, your GP or call Lifeline on 13 11 14.
