Sasquatch Odyssey

In this episode, Fred from the Subarctic Alaska Sasquatch YouTube channel returns to share two chilling accounts of encounters with a massive, humanlike creature deep in the Alaskan wilderness. Both stories come from individuals who found themselves face-to-face with something they could neither explain nor forget.

The first encounter comes from a man we’ll call Ben, a doctor flying a Piper Super Cub through the remote country near Hell Bent Creek above the Yukon River with his ten-year-old son. After landing near a quiet pond to stretch their legs and eat lunch, Ben notices his son repeatedly staring across the water at what the boy believes is a man standing in the distance. At first Ben assumes it’s a trick of the light or a distant hunter, but as they prepare to leave he finally sees it for himself. A large, dark figure rises upright near the pond and begins moving slowly along the shoreline.

As Ben starts warming up the plane for departure, the creature suddenly appears much closer, squatting roughly forty-five feet from the wing and silently watching the boy. Realizing the situation may be dangerous, Ben readies a shotgun while getting the aircraft airborne.

As they circle back for a final pass, he sees the figure return to the pond where his son had been standing, lowering its head as if sniffing the ground.The second account comes from a young woman named Shiloh, who was berry picking with her cousin outside a small unnamed village in rural Alaska. 

While gathering berries on the tundra, the girls notice a towering figure standing among the brush. Shiloh later described the creature as being nearly nine feet tall and strangely mesmerizing, as if it were somehow pulling her attention toward it. Her cousin sensed something was wrong and snapped her out of the strange trance-like state before they ran back to the village. Later that day several relatives armed themselves and followed the enormous tracks left behind.

Not far from where the girls had been picking berries, they spotted the same towering figure swaying in the brush. When the men approached, the creature suddenly charged. Warning shots rang out, and the massive figure stumbled before dropping onto all fours and disappearing into the tundra. Weeks later, the village smokehouse was discovered knocked over with salmon missing.

When one of the men tracked the disturbance, he reportedly saw the same creature moving away through the brush carrying long strips of dried salmon in its arms.

 What begins as a powerful collection of witness encounters from across the country — a conservation officer in Minnesota's Boundary Waters, a Mississippi fisherman on the Big Black River, a West Virginia coal miner who found something living deep underground, and a Cajun folk healer who speaks of the loup-garou with reverence rather than fear — quickly evolves into something far more consequential.

A television producer named Amanda from Meridian Productions returns with an offer to bring Sasquatch Odyssey to the screen as a legitimate documentary series. Brian agrees, but only on his terms: editorial control, no sensationalism, and absolute respect for the witnesses. The production takes the team from the Olympic Peninsula to the Ozarks and back to the Pisgah National Forest, where the mystery of Austin Reeves still lingers in every shadow and hollow.

But the closer Brian gets to the truth, the harder certain forces push back. A devastating act of arson destroys his home, his studio, and nearly everything he and Daniel have built together. 

The local investigation is a sham, but an ATF agent named Sarah Brown finds evidence of professional-grade incendiary devices and a cover-up that reaches far above her pay grade.

Rather than retreat, Brian and Daniel rebuild — bigger, stronger, and more determined than ever.The episode also explores the emotional toll of this work through quieter moments: the frustration of sorting genuine encounters from fabrications, the patience required to find voices like eighty-two-year-old Lucille Marsh from rural Georgia, and the steady, grounding presence of Daniel through it all.

From Wisconsin dairy farms to Nebraska sandhills, witnesses from the American heartland reveal that these creatures aren't just hiding in remote wilderness — they've adapted to live alongside us in the margins, watching from the edges of our everyday world.

The documentary airs, reaches millions, and ignites a national conversation. The community grows. The threats continue. And the odyssey pushes forward, one story at a time.

Brian welcomes Tim from Macon County, North Carolina, whose interest in Bigfoot began in an unexpected way. Years ago, he and a friend decided to prank the friend’s sons by creating fake tracks in the woods, a harmless hoax meant to stir up a little excitement. But not long after, the joke seemed to take on a life of its own.

Beginning in 2008, Tim says unexplained activity started occurring on the property—events that made him question whether something real might be moving through those woods. What followed were a series of strange and unsettling incidents. 

Tim recalls a raccoon being violently killed while a deep roar and whistling sounds echoed through the area. He also describes rocks and sticks being thrown, piercing screams from the darkness, and repeated disturbances around the trails, deer stands, and feeders scattered throughout the property. Over time, these experiences escalated from mysterious noises to what Tim believes were direct encounters. 

One involved a creature he photographed alongside researcher Dwight Campbell. Another encounter occurred while Tim was bow hunting, when he says a large figure appeared within roughly twenty feet of him. In a separate experience in Cades Cove, he observed something during the daytime using thermal equipment. More recently, in 2022, Tim describes seeing a creature on the ground that crawled away from the area rather than standing upright. Tim also recounts a trip following the South Carolina Bigfoot Festival, when his group returned to a location where bluff-charge vocalizations had previously been reported. 

The area had already generated stories from other witnesses, including reports of glowing eyes and even claims of a dogman-like creature moving through the woods.Despite skepticism from some people in his life, Tim remains focused on documenting what he believes is genuine activity. One of the moments that left the strongest impression on him involved hearing what sounded like two creatures communicating back and forth, an experience that reinforced his belief that these beings possess intelligence and complex behavior.

Today, Tim continues researching and sharing his experiences while encouraging others to approach the subject with curiosity and an open mind. He also promotes his work with Sasquatch Recon, North Carolina Investigates, and his online channels, where he documents ongoing field efforts and discussions surrounding the mystery.

In this installment, Daniel finds something he never expected: normalcy. A job at a local pizza place, the simple rhythm of work and home, the blessed absence of danger. After everything they've survived, boring feels like a gift.Meanwhile, Brian's podcast has exploded beyond anything he imagined. Five million downloads.

Tens of thousands of community members. Emails pouring in from witnesses who've carried their secrets for decades, finally finding a place where someone believes them. A seventy-eight-year-old woman writes to share an encounter she's hidden since 1952, and Brian remembers exactly why he does this work.But success brings complications. For every credible witness, there are a dozen others whose stories fall apart under scrutiny. A construction worker from British Columbia claims an intimate encounter with a female Sasquatch, and Brian is forced to draw hard lines about what belongs on the show.

Eighteen months later, they burn his studio to the ground. But fire has a way of spreading what it's meant to destroy. The attack makes national news. Donations flood in. And soon Brian finds himself leading an expedition into the Pisgah with a full production crew, thermal cameras, and night vision equipment.

On the eighth night, in a hollow near where Austin Mercer vanished, the forest comes alive with wood knocks and howls. The creatures stay just beyond the cameras, too smart to be caught clearly, but their presence is undeniable.It isn't definitive proof.

But it's evidence the world will have to reckon with.And at a simple wooden cross marking where Austin was last seen, Brian says a quiet prayer for all those who've disappeared into these ancient mountains, and for the truth still waiting to be found.

In this episode, Fred takes us beyond simple encounter stories and into the foundation of how knowledge is preserved in his culture. He explains the vital role oral tradition plays in passing down history, survival skills, and encounters with what many in his community know as the Hairy Man. Written documentation is rare. 

He points out that “Story Knife” remains one of the few works that even attempts to capture fragments of that tradition in print. For generations, stories were not recorded in books—they were carried in memory, tied to landmarks, seasons, and lived experience. Fred also reflects on navigation, describing how descriptive mapping and deep familiarity with terrain once guided people across vast, unforgiving landscapes long before GPS existed. In his view, those skills are not outdated relics—they still matter. The conversation then shifts to a chilling account Fred heard in 2004 from a man named Jerry in Togiak. Jerry described a winter hunting trip west of Non Dalton that took a terrifying turn. 

During the hunt, a scream erupted across the tundra so intense that it scattered nearby wolves. What followed was even more disturbing. A Hairy Man reportedly struck a caribou with a single backhand blow to the ribs, dropping it. Jerry and his companions salvaged and packed the meat, trying to focus on the task at hand, but the encounter was far from over. The creature returned, and in an overwhelming display of strength and dominance, it threw their packed quarters over a ridge.

The men abandoned the situation and escaped on their snow machines, shaken by what they had witnessed. Jerry also recalled an earlier sighting along the West Channel of the Nok River, where he saw a tall, young, slender Hairy Man that fled the area and swam away, avoiding contact. Fred then shares experiences from a property owner near Juneau, referred to as “Sam,” whose encounters unfolded over time rather than in a single dramatic moment. 

Sam described strange whistling that mimicked human tones, the sound and sight of bipedal movement in the trees, prolonged wood-banging that echoed through the forest, rocks landing near hunters, and even owl hoots that felt deliberately imitative rather than natural. Alongside these physical signs was a persistent, oppressive feeling in the woods—an atmosphere that made it clear something was present. Sam hesitated to speak openly for fear of ridicule, something Fred notes is common among witnesses.

He also discusses a website encounter map and highlights recurring patterns across Alaska: whistles, rock throwing, wood knocks, and vocal mimicry that suggest these accounts follow familiar themes.
