After some busy Easter holiday weeks, Lissy, Kim, Rebecca and Heather are regrouping to chat! The Mums talk about how magical the Spring is in Edinburgh.. from the cherry blossoms and the best places in the city to enjoy them, to the upcoming Porty Festival (May 2- 4), Edinburgh is going viral!
Find out who went on a sunny holiday to Fuerteventura, who was visiting a proper fairytale amusement park in the Netherlands (Efteling), and who was hosting all of the family for a week in Pitlochry! Hear all about some of the Mums' takeaways from the Easter hols... where not to go for a Spanish experience in Fuerteventura to what ride at Efteling the Mums would consider living in, to how to handle a hoard of guests!
Continuing on the theme of Edinburgh going viral, the Mums chat about a heart-warming story of China Star on West Maitland Street, which has completely taken over local social media feeds lately. The story struck a chord because it highlights the invisible struggle of long-standing family businesses in Edinburgh’s changing food scene. Seeing a daughter drop everything to save her mother’s 30-year legacy clearly hit people right in the feels, and the Mums are here for it!
Moving on, the Mums chat about Waitress, the story of Jenna, a waitress and expert pie-maker stuck in a small town and a loveless marriage who must find the courage to rebuild her life, which is coming to the Edinburgh Playhouse from May 12th to the 16th. Lissy, the Mums' resident theatre expert and super fan, brings her knowledge of the production as well as her original, signed theatre pamphlet by Sara Bareilles (!) to the podcast. Starring Carrie Hope Fletcher, Les Dennis, Sandra Marvin and Evelyn Hoskins (reprising their roles from the West End production Lissy saw years ago!!), the show is not to be missed!
Finally, the Mums wrap with an advice letter you will not want to miss! What do you do when your mum is an over-sharer when it comes to hosting Easter dinner and the in-laws are coming? When it comes chat about how her hemorrhoid treatment is going, the Mums have some interesting insights and thoughts to share.
