The union concluded that some of his remarks breached its rules and brought the organisation into disrepute, while Pete argued that he was being punished for political criticism of Israel rather than for antisemitism. Today he remains an active pro-Palestinian campaigner, political commentator and writer. After discussing Keir Starmer's resignation, Richie is joined by the independent researcher and author David Whelan, whose latest book is Mind Games: The Assassination of John Lennon – Volume 2: New Investigations. For years, David has immersed himself in one of the most infamous murders of the twentieth century – the killing of John Lennon outside the Dakota Building in New York on 8 December 1980.

While the official account concluded that Mark David Chapman acted alone, David believes there are still major unanswered questions surrounding the case. In this new volume, he examines witness testimony, police procedures, media reporting and historical documents, arguing that significant evidence has been overlooked and that aspects of the accepted narrative deserve fresh scrutiny. The book also revisits the backgrounds of key figures connected to the case and explores theories involving intelligence agencies, psychological manipulation and possible institutional cover-ups.

UK doctors are being investigated, suspended and silenced – not for harming patients, but for speaking out against genocide and for engaging in lawful political speech. Dr Tamara Ali is a GP in Scotland who has become the focus of a high-profile legal dispute after she says she faced disciplinary action for displaying a small Palestinian flag and wearing a Palestine pin while working in an NHS setting. She argues that she was subjected to discrimination and censorship because of her support for the Palestinian cause and has launched legal proceedings challenging the actions taken against her.

Joining her on today's show is consultant neurologist Dr Rehiana Ali, who was suspended by the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service pending a General Medical Council investigation into her social media activity relating to Israel and Palestine. She has consistently maintained that her comments were protected political speech and has argued that she is being punished for exercising her right to freedom of expression. The interim suspension was later lifted by a tribunal.
