This Saturday, July 4th, Matty will take on an ultra-marathon (50 kilometres) in aid of a charity which is dear to his heart. Pete made national headlines in 2018 when he was expelled from the GMB union following disciplinary proceedings related to comments he made about Israel, Zionism and the Holocaust. The union concluded that some of his remarks breached its rules and brought the organisation into disrepute, while Pete argued that he was being punished for political criticism of Israel rather than for antisemitism. Today he remains an active pro-Palestinian campaigner, political commentator and writer.
