  • Ed Kuepper of THE SAINTS interviewed by Jesse Luscious
On Saturday 18 October 2025, DJ Jesse Luscious had a UK to Australia chat with Ed Kuepper, guitarist for many bands, co-founder of The Saints, & mastermind of The Saints 73-78 who are about to play 5 U.K. dates between the 21st & 26th of November. The Saints 73-78 feature the 2 living co-founders of The Saints- Ed Kuepper & Ivor Hay- along with Mark Arm (Mudhoney) on vocals & Mick Harvey (Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds & The Birthday Party) on 2nd guitar. They're on a world tour and are playing 5 U.K. dates (see below) with a set made up of only songs from the 1st 3 Saints albums: "I'm Stranded", "Eternally Yours", and "Prehistoric Sounds"! Among other things, we talk about Ed Kuepper's earliest musical loves, how he discovered his brash & confrontational guitar tone in early 70s Brisbane, the first 5 years of The Saints (including their discovery of their contemporaries Radio Birdman only after they moved to Sydney and their whirlwind life in the U.K. in 1977 & 1978), and whether Chris Bailey, who died in 2022 and was also a co-founder of the Saints, would've been playing on the current Saints 73-78 tour. Interspersed with classic Saints songs, this wide-ranging chat will delight any fan of one of Australia's greatest musical exports: The Saints! [Photo of Ed Kuepper by Caleb Cluff/ABC Rural]
