Page 236 - The Plot Against Yūsuf عَلَیهِ السَّلام
In this lesson of Sūrah Yūsuf verses 1 to 10, Shaykh Dr. Aḥsan Ḥanīf begins the story described as the best of stories — the life of Prophet Yūsuf ʿalayhi al-salām. The lesson explores the beauty of the Qur’ān’s eloquence and the divine wisdom behind revealing the story in Arabic for understanding and reflection. We learn about Yūsuf’s profound dream and his father Yaʿqūb’s advice to keep it secret, foreseeing his other sons’ envy. The verses then uncover the jealousy brewing among Yūsuf’s brothers and their dark plot against him, ultimately deciding to cast him into a well instead of killing him. The opening of this remarkable narrative sets the stage for themes of jealousy, divine planning, and prophetic insight.

In this lesson on Sūrah Hūd, verses 117–123, Shaykh Dr. Aḥsan Ḥanīf reflects on how Allah's justice never allows for the destruction of a community while its people are still striving for reform. The verses affirm that human differences are part of divine wisdom and only those whom Allah shows mercy to will be rightly guided. These final verses of the Sūrah also highlight the role of prophetic stories in strengthening the Prophet’s ﷺ resolve, serving as a source of truth, guidance, and remembrance for believers. Page 234 - Truth Over Tradition
In this lesson of Sūrah Hūd verses 109–116, Shaykh Dr. Aḥsan Ḥanīf explores the warnings and guidance offered to the Prophet ﷺ and his followers in the face of persistent disbelief. The verses reaffirm that those who worship others besides Allāh are only following blind tradition and will receive their due share of recompense. Just as previous scriptures like the Torah were disputed, the Qur’ān too faces doubt from many. Yet, every individual will be fully repaid for their deeds. Believers are instructed to stay firm upon the truth, avoid leaning toward the wrongdoers, and uphold prayers consistently. The reminder that good deeds erase bad ones offers hope, while the importance of patience and moral courage is emphasised. The passage concludes by lamenting the rarity of righteous reformers in past nations and warns against indulgence in worldly luxury at the cost of faith.

In this lesson of Sūrah Hūd (96–108), Shaykh Dr. Aḥsan Ḥanīf explores the downfall of Pharaoh and his followers who arrogantly rejected the message of Mūsá (Moses, peace be upon him). Their rebellion led them to ruin in this world and a cursed destiny in the Hereafter. The verses go on to describe the consequences faced by other destroyed nations, highlighting how Allah's punishment befalls those who persist in wrongdoing. The passage closes with a powerful depiction of the Day of Judgement, where all people will be gathered, and only by Allah’s permission will anyone speak. The ultimate end of the wretched is Hell, while the prosperous will enjoy an everlasting reward in Paradise.

Page 232 - Shuʿayb’s Final Warning
In this lesson of Sūrah Hūd verses 88–95, Shaykh Dr. Aḥsan Ḥanīf explains the final warnings of Prophet Shuʿayb (ʿalayhi as-salām) to his people. He pleads with them to consider his sincerity, his desire for reform, and his dependence on Allah alone. He warns them not to follow the path of previous destroyed nations like those of Nūḥ, Hūd, Ṣāliḥ, and Lūṭ. Despite his compassion and warnings, they mock him and threaten him with violence. The lesson concludes with the arrival of Allah’s command, the salvation of Shuʿayb and his followers, and the utter destruction of the wrongdoers of Madyan — leaving behind no trace of their past prosperity.
