Matt and Jack welcome Liza Weil, known for West Wing, Gilmore Girls, Westworld, a million other things, and quite possibly the most Shondaland actor of all time, but best known to this audience as the one and only Bonnie Winterbottom.
Liza opens up about coming to HTGAWM with a three-year-old at home and a serious case of imposter syndrome; she had no expectations about how well the show would do, didn't test for the role, and had to get on a plane within days of booking it. She talks about her long history with Shondaland and why she was afraid a lot of the time on HTGAWM, but okay once the cameras rolled.
She also gets into how she originally auditioned for Rory on Gilmore Girls, the devastation of losing community when projects end, moving to NY and LA with no formal training and no backup plan, and how she's finally learning to get out of her own way. Plus, how something feeling bad and the end product being good are two entirely different things, and what Lunar Sway cracked open for her personally. One for the books!

The show is back from hiatus and so is the chaos. Episode 10 picks up with the investigation into Sam's disappearance, the Keating 4 barely holding it together, and Annalise sitting down with detectives to answer questions about Night X... armor fully on, tell fully intact. Matt has done the analysis: she has a giveaway when she's lying, and there's a really big word for it. Meanwhile the Keating 4 are discussing the crime basically in front of law enforcement, Wes produces Sam's ring from the body, Rebecca goes goth again (and then non-goth), and Frank finds out Laurel committed a murder and genuinely could not care less.

On the podcast, Matt and Jack dig into the bad police work, the visual juxtapositions running through the episode, and the first real glimpse of Connor being supportive of Michaela. Episode 9 is the midseason finale, the moment the flashforward finally collides with the present. Everything that happened on Night X is revealed: Rebecca breaks into the house to prove Sam killed Lila (subtlety be damned), Sam is confirmed as a literal strangler, and Michaela sends him over the railing… which is how he dies.
