David “Brucey” Bruce and Sam “Nutty” Edwards are Royal Marines, ocean rowers and expedition partners with a habit of taking on big, self-sufficient challenges.

As part of Team United We Conquer, they rowed 3,500 miles across the North Atlantic from New York to the UK alongside Jack Jarvis and Adam Radcliffe. Along the way, the crew set a world record for the furthest distance rowed in 24 hours, covering an incredible 144.9 nautical miles.

We sit down to talk through the realities of taking on these challenges, the planning, the kit, the mistakes, the bad days, the good stories and what happens when things don’t go to plan.
