正文： On January 20th 2025 DeepSeek was an obscure hedge-fund-turned-tech-startup from Hangzhou. Within a week it had become the byword for a new wave of Chinese innovation, after launching an artificial-intelligence model as capable as Silicon Valley’s bleeding edge but much cheaper to build and run. Having slugged it out in China’s cutthroat domestic market over the past year, DeepSeek and its homespun rivals are looking abroad for profits. They will not find the largest ones in America, increasingly out of geopolitical bounds, or the poorer global south. That leaves Europe as the likely recipient of their attention.

What happens when armed men are given impunity

正文：THE LATEST shooting by federal agents on the streets of Minneapolis unfolded just after 9am on January 24th. At least half a dozen masked Border Patrol agents were conducting a “targeted operation”, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), when they encountered a man on a part of Nicollet Avenue known as “Eat Street” and tackled him. A video shot from across the street captures the struggle after it had begun. One officer is seen apparently repeatedly punching the man in the head. A gunshot rings out, then another, and finally an agent appears to shoot multiple bullets into the man’s prone body.
