#75 - James Norbury on Becoming a Real-Life Hobbit and Other Wild Adventures

    24/06/2026 | 1h 33 mins.
In this episode of The Life Outside Podcast, Cam chats with James Norbury. James is an adventure filmmaker, ultra runner, and huge fan of The Lord of the Rings. Based between Chamonix and Cape Town, James spends most of his time imagining up wild adventure projects and challenges, and then heading outdoors to bring them to life. He’s walked barefoot from the real-life Hobbiton to Mt Doom in New Zealand, was the first to run the 30 peaks challenge in the UK, and spent a month sailing the Atlantic without any experience on the water.

James shares stories from some of his craziest and most wholesome adventures, plus shares his thoughts on safety and risk outside, social media, and the importance of balance in outdoor pursuits.

#72 - Harmen Hoek on Outdoor Filmmaking and Solo Hiking On the World’s Most Incredible Trails

    27/05/2026 | 1h 9 mins.
Harmen Hoek is a Dutch solo hiker and outdoor filmmaker known for his cinematic silent hiking films on YouTube, growing his channel to almost 500,000 subscribers. His work has taken him across the globe to some of the world’s most incredible natural locations, like the Sierra Nevada, the Drakensberg, Mongolia, Aconcagua, and so much more. What makes his films so unique is that they are largely silent, no traditional narration or vlogging, just footsteps and unbelievable landscapes.

#71 - Cocodona 250 and The Calendar Year Triple Crown with Troy Croxdale

    20/05/2026 | 1h 2 mins.
Troy Croxdale, known as Punisher on trail, is a thru-hiker, runner, and ultra athlete from California. After a major personal reset in 2019, Troy built a life around long trails and big endurance challenges. He has hiked the Pacific Crest, Appalachian, and Continental Divide Trails multiple times, and in 2025, hiked all 3 in a row, completing the Border-to-Border Calendar-Year Triple Crown and a 10,000-mile hiking year. He’s also an accomplished ultrarunner, making the podium of the Tahoe 200, and recently finishing the Cocodona 250 after a massive day-one comeback. My name is Cam Bostock, and this is the Life Outside Podcast. Make sure to follow the show wherever you are listening and leave us a 5-star rating if you enjoyed.
